Sometimes the least expected news hits you and your day stops short.
Life was happening around me. The kids needed fed and the laundry needs done. The blog work is running behind and my ears are still ringing from the Chuck E. Cheese lunch date we went on with my sister and her family.
I sit down to my computer to try to check more things off of my to do list and I am hit with saddening and shocking news: a blog friend has died in a house fire. No, I didn’t “know” her but I did. We never met face to face but I worked with her a couple years ago on her blog Worshipful Living. Emails, video, messaging all the ways that modern day people can communicate kept us in touch.
The reality is this life is only for a moment. One minute you can be sitting with your family, totally unaware the next minute your loved one or you could be gone. Gone from this earthly home.
This world is not our home. If we know Christ as our Savior, we have a heavenly home. We cannot get comfortable in this life because our body our soul longs for Jesus. Mandy knew that. Mandy is rejoicing with our Savior right now. What a praise, what a joy for her. Yes, there are those who are left behind that we need to pray for. Mandy’s purpose on this earth was fulfilled and we can rejoice that she and her husband are with Jesus.
Don’t get too comfortable on this earth. If you are unsure where you would go if your life would suddenly end, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Look to the Bible for answers. This life is only for a moment. Mandy did not know her time on this earth would end last night. But it did end. And her eternal life began with her Savior. Where will your eternal life be?
