We (my husband and I) have been to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY four times. The children have been there once. My husband and I went on a getaway weekend about 6 years ago for the first time and loved the experience so much we knew we had to go back and take the children. Fast forward a lot of years and different reasons for going (including taking the Grandparents) and we are still enthralled with the experience as we ever were.
Going someplace with your family can be hard. I don’t know your children’s ages but in this picture I have, my children were a few years younger. Trust me when I say, it isn’t easy taking your ducklings with you. 🙂 We raise our children to obey and respect authority, but let’s face it, nobody is perfect, especially an 18 month old. I’m sure you know what I mean.
I thought I would put together some Creation Museum Fun Facts and Mom Advice for you before pile your children in your minivan, pack half a grocery store of food and snacks and make 7 bathroom trips at rest stops along the way.
Creation Museum Fun Facts And Mom Advice
The Creation Museum is a family friendly, calm and peaceful place to visit. Everyone who goes has a certain level of respect for each other. We love taking our children there for this reason alone: we don’t worry about what they will see or hear from other guests visiting the museum. That, my friends, is priceless.
There is a petting zoo, outside gardens and, a favorite of any mom, an outdoor picnic area. You are more than welcome to bring food from home and eat it outside. Love that! Feeding a family of six at a museum or amusement park is expensive! There is a restaurant there with not outrageous prices. I had an order of french fries there and they were reasonable. That was very refreshing.
There are many impressive areas of the creation museum such as the dinosaur exhibit and the Garden of Eden. It really helps the children to visualize all of the lessons they have been taught over the years.
The Bible comes to life and Genesis is told before their eyes. It is a great experience.
There are great movies to watch, such as The Last Adam, and moving, 3D displays. I always brought some Goldfish crackers and sippy cups for the little one and didn’t have a problem doing it. The star gazer exhibit was interesting and worth the money. We didn’t go the first few times but on our last trip, we did. It was full of information and, to be honest, dark enough for the above mentioned 18 month old to nap. Win all around.
We are eager to go the Ark Encounter as well. We haven’t gone yet and we are excited to see Noah’s Ark come to life! You can get tickets for either the Ark Encounter or Creation Museum here. Be sure to check into hotel deals in the area. They often have discounts and will offer you a combination price for buying the tickets at the hotel. You can access all the information here.
